Obituary of Laurie Alexander Williams
Laurie Alexander Williams, 76, Egerton, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, April 4, 2023 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born in Pugwash Junction, he was a son of the late Robert and Ruth (MacLeod) Williams. Laurie was employed in construction as a heavy equipment operator for many years. In earlier years, Laurie owned and operated J. & L. Equipment Ltd. with his brother, Jim. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and doing crossword puzzles. Laurie has been described by friends as “a true country gentleman”, who made friends wherever he went. He possessed a kind-heart, dry sense of humour, and magnetic personality. Laurie was “a lovable teddy bear” who will never be forgotten.
Surviving are his best friend and partner of 28 years, Dolly Walsh; daughter, Renelle (Brian) Kingdon, Grimsby, Ont.; grandson, John Kingdon, Grimbsy; Dolly’s children, Dave Walsh (Marie), Frasers Mountain; Clint (Heather) Walsh, Plymouth; grandchildren, Kyla, Angela, Connor and Brady; great-grandchildren, Madison, Benjamin and Kendyl; brothers, Jim (Carol) Williams, Salem; Hector Williams, Stoney Creek, Ont; many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sister, Marlene Hubley; brother-in-law, Bob Hubley.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday, April 8 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Interment will be in Malagawatch Cemetery, River Denys at a later date.
Family flowers only. Donations may be made in Laurie’s memory to Malagawatch Cemetery.
