Obituary of Kathleen Mabel MacInnis
Kathleen Mabel MacInnis, 95, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, May 16, 2023, in the R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home, Antigonish.
Born May 7, 1928, in Mulgrave, she was a daughter of the late Archibald Donald and Jennie Mae (MacDonald) MacInnis. Mabel moved with her family to Stellarton in 1938 where she resided for a number of years. When her brother, Father Gerard, was appointed parish priest of Consort, Alta., she also began a life of service. She became his domestic engineer and personal assistant, serving in several parishes in the Archdiocese of Edmonton. Mabel was described by her brother as, “a stalwart servant in the work of Christ”. In 1994 she accompanied her brother to Notre Dame parish, Yarmouth, in 1999 to Arisaig and in 2008 to Antigonish. The last surviving member of her immediate family, she will be fondly remembered for her ever-steeping teapot and good counsel. For Mabel, life has only changed; not ended, for now she enjoys the fulfilment of her faith.
Surviving are her niece, Ronda; nephew, Ted; friends, Margie (Bernard) and Andrew (Marie).
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by sister, Mary MacNeil; brothers, Ronald, Donald and Father Gerard; nephews, Donald Jr., Gregory and Roderick.
The family will receive visitors 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. Monday, May 22 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 3 p.m. Monday, May 22 in Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Stellarton with Father MacDonald Ibeh presiding. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Mabel’s family wish to thank the wonderful R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home for the wonderful care received and the kindness shown.
