I’ve driven by Garnet’s home many times with the urge to stop in to say hi. I will never forget the kindness that both Garnet & Mae had shown to me and my family. The simple hello and smile they gestured made it clear they were good people. I babysat for them and now I extend my condolences to the family. Thinking of you all during this time. I was so sorry to hear of Garnet's passing. I have fond memories of our family trip to Florida and visits to your parent's home over the years. I'm grateful for the many decades of friendship that my father Bernie, and Garnet shared (as well as Mae and my mother Jeannette). Garnet was such a very kind gentleman who will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of having him in their lives.
My deepest condolences to you all

Timmy, Todd, Lori, Terry and family,
Words cannot express the sadness I am feeling on hearing of Garnet’s passing. Garnet was such a warm and caring person. His kindness knew no bounds when it came to helping people he cared for. I am so appreciative for the many times this kindness was extended to both my late husband Bernie and I. Although Garnet and Bernie started off as business friends, they became so much more. They were so similar in personality. Anyone who had the privilege of knowing Garnet and Mae could see the obvious and very genuine love these two had for each other. He was a family man who was so very proud of all his children. I have wonderful memories of trips taken, especially one to Florida with all 8 children. Who could ever forget “Entrapment”,Timmy. Visits to their home always with food, laughter and trips to the bathroom where the dog always seemed to be awaiting in the shower stall to frighten us. There are so many good memories that I will forever cherish. Please know how much he was loved and how thankful I am for his friendship. He will live on in your memories and in the memories of the many lives he touched. Sending love and our sincere condolences,
Jeannette and Family XO

To the Worthen family. I am so sorry to hear of Garnet’s passing. He was a client of mine for many years. But much more importantly, he was a friend. I always enjoyed his visits, his laugh and his sense of humour. Goodbye my friend. Rest in peace.

First, my condolences to the Worthen family. May memories of the good times sustain you.
I got to know Garnett after being elected as Councillor for Sylvester. He proudly showed me the quality of his road in the Spruce Grove subdivision. We were both frustrated with the County and their intransgience. After many years and much lobbying a new bylaw was created and Garnett’s road was the first one taken over.
I found him a fair, kind and shrewd businessman. He genuinely cared about and for the residents of his subdivision. He was willing to go the extra mile to get the deal done. He will be missed. May he rest in peace.

I have many fond memories of life in Alma going back to the late 70’s and 80’s with the close neighbors, Garnet and Mae, working with them on community projects such as getting the community centre up and running. I could go on for a long time. Garnet will be missed by many through Pictou County. My thoughts are with you at this difficult time and you have my sincere condolences.

Our sincere sympathy to Garnet’s family. Garnet’s obituary was the Garnet we knew and most appropriate. In 1971 we bought a mobile home from Garnet and it blew over twice in two months, November ‘71 and February’72 (90 mile an hour winds). The second time Garnet arrived with a truck and said, “I know I can’t sell you another mobile home, but I am here to help”. That was Garnet here to help. May you find the strength in the love of family and the warm embrace of friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Sincerely love Colette & Fred Forbes
